Birth Supplies
There are two list I give my parents, the Birth Kit and Needs List. The Birth Kit has all of the sterile disposable items for their birth and you can order from In His Hands. The Needs List is intended to help organize you for your birth so you can concentrate on bonding with your baby without any unnecessary distractions and questions. You do not have to buy them new. You might even have them already at home. Please ask me to see if I have some donated items to give.

Needs List
For Mom:
- Comfortable attire for labor and birth (including a bathing suit top for water birth)
- Socks and/or slippers
- Lots of pillows for support
- Clean shower curtain liner (to protect floor, bed, etc)
- Clean flat top sheet (one that may be discarded)
- Large heat resistant bowl for hot water
- One dozen clean wash cloths for hot compresses
- For water birth- 8 large bath towels & 2 hand towels set aside
- Honey for instant strength
- Supergreens or liquid chlorophyll (concentrate, mint flavor)
- LOTS of water
- Small bottle of olive oil for preventing tears
- Large box of Depends (Without tape. You will be wearing these the first 24 to 48 hrs after birth)
- Overnight size Kotex pads and chamomile tea
- Clean older pairs of underwear
- Easy to breastfeed attire, sometimes nothing is best
- Lots of healthy food for mom and birth team! Protein, veggies, soups, etc.
For Baby
- One dozen clean receiving blankets
- Onesie or undershirt
- Pair of booties or socks
- Baby nighties
- Newborn diapers (size 1)
- Small amount of olive oil for baby’s bum, to ease the cleaning of meconium (poop:)
Misc
- Video and/or still camera (charged up) & blank tapes or memory card/CD
- Very important: Healthy food for labor and afterwards!
- Champagne to celebrate (optional) or whatever makes you feel good
