Take your time to heal and bond with your baby. Getting to know each other. When you have any questions, are having a hard time, or just simply feel like talking to someone, please call me directly.
Placenta Benefits
Your body is healing from the inside out and the wound left behind from the placenta inside you can be about 6 inches in diameter. If this wound was on, say, your knee you would be very careful and intent on helping it heal. Funny enough, that very placenta can help with that healing process and in numerous other ways as well.
Lactation Consultants
Just like you took care of your body during pregnancy to grow a healthy baby is the same way moms need to nurture their bodies so they can heal well and provide good breast milk for their babies. Eating a healthy diet and taking time for themselves as well. Sometimes there is difficulties with breastfeeding and contacting a knowledgeable and well versed Lactation Consultant or joining a breastfeeding support group makes a world of difference.
Family Support
When family and friends come over to visit the new mom and baby it is important to remember not to feel like a hostess or host. Asking them to bring a meal can really help and make the visit that much better.
Postpartum Doulas
When there is no family support postpartum doulas are essential. They help with everything from doing some dishes or throwing in a load of laundry (trust me that is easily forgotten) to making sure that mom gets help if she isn’t noticing something that needs more attention from her care provider. Some are CLCs and can help with breastfeeding or can simply hold the baby while mom gets the sleep she needs. They are a wonderful resource and really help to make your babymoon spectacular!
Massage
Sometimes mom just needs to be pampered! Getting a massage during pregnancy and afterward is a great way to relax and also really good for your overall health. A skilled practitioner can help sooth nerves, release toxins, and promote better health for mom and baby. Some therapists will even attend the birth and provide excellent support.
